Abstract: Proposed paper would contain discussion of a cooperative research project between Rapita Systems and Collins Aerospace. Using a new tool from Rapita, we examined approaches for quantifying measurement of data coupling and control coupling (DC/CC). These verification analyses are mandated by DO-178C but no guidance for quantification of these analyses has ever been published. Our paper outlines our findings when measuring DC/CC on airborne flight display software, and proposes quantifiable measures that could be used by the safety-critical software industry to assess the thoroughness of DC/CC analysis.
