Abstract: In this work, we are fabricating digital microfluidic thermal switches based on electrowetting on dielectric effect (EWOD) for caloric cooling applications. We prepared multilayer structures with three different dielectric layers and investigated their functional properties. We further investigated EWOD effect and used the results in numerical simulations to confirm the principle of caloric cooling device operation.
