Paper Title: A Laser Frequency Comb for Space Missions
Student Contest: No
Affiliation Type: Industry
Keywords: optical frequency comb, space qualified, optical clock, ECSS, radiation tolerance.
Abstract: We have developed an optical frequency comb for future space missions. The comb has been built following ECSS standards and uses a set of qualified and upscreened components. The system exhibits a size of 6.5l, a weight of 7.5kg, and consumes up to 55W power, depending on its operational mode. The comb can be used to compare up to four lasers operating at 1064nm and to generate highly stable 10MHz derived from one of laser’s optical frequency. The system has been engineered for radiation tolerance reaching up to 1kGy during mission.
