Abstract:
We present a compact and transportable ultra-stable clockwork and cw laser comb-reference system for operating ytterbium optical lattice clocks. The rack-mounted device consists of an Er:fiber-based optical frequency comb, six non-linear comb branches for the synthesis of comb lines at relevant frequencies, and an ultra-stable microwave extraction comb unit. The latter reaches a residual fractional frequency stability at 10 GHz of <5x10^-17 in 1 s, entering the 10^-20 level stability in less than 10^4 s.
