Abstract:
Ultrasound time harmonic elastography (THE) is a non-invasive technique for estimating tissue elasticity by measuring the shear wave speed (SWS). Most of the published THE studies apply the algorithms on phantom data. However, assessing these results can be challenging due to the difficult nature of controlling the experiment environment, such as noise, source/probe location, or propagation mode of the wave. Evaluating the algorithms on well-controlled simulated data is therefore necessary. According to our knowledge and [1], there are no published unified simulation frameworks that combine elastic wave propagation and ultrasound image formation for THE research. To fill this gap, we propose an open code to generate simulated ultrasound data, allowing for fair evaluation of SWS estimation algorithms.
